About Phra Legal
A firm built around the weight of family legacy
For over fifteen years we have helped families in Thailand attend to the legal side of inheritance and estate matters — carefully, clearly, and without unnecessary complexity.

Founded on a simple observation
Phra Legal began in Bangkok in 2009 when Khun Wiriya Prayat, a practicing lawyer with a background in civil litigation, noticed something consistent in estate enquiries coming through the courts: families arrived confused, sometimes in conflict, and rarely with a clear picture of what the process would require of them.
The firm was set up to address that gap. The intent was not to be the largest inheritance practice in the city, but to be one where clients could sit down and receive an honest, ordered explanation of where they stood — and what came next. That remains the purpose of every consultation Phra Legal undertakes today.
Since opening our office on Witthayu Road, we have worked with individuals planning ahead, families managing the administration of a deceased parent's estate, and those navigating contested claims with the care those situations require. The work spans straightforward single-asset estates and more complex arrangements involving property, business interests, and foreign beneficiaries.
Thailand's Civil and Commercial Code sets a clear framework for inheritance, but the practical realities — court timetables, document requirements, family dynamics — ask more of people than the law alone can describe. We try to bridge that space.
Our Mission
Making a difficult process navigable
Our mission is straightforward: to provide legal assistance in inheritance and estate matters that is honest, accessible, and suited to the circumstances of the people involved. We do not use complexity to justify fees, and we do not encourage steps that are not needed.
We operate from one office in central Bangkok. Our team is small by design — large enough to carry appropriate specialist knowledge, small enough that every matter receives consistent attention from qualified practitioners rather than being passed through departments.
We work in English and Thai and are experienced with estates involving both Thai nationals and foreign residents or heirs.

Standards
How we maintain professional quality
Inheritance law requires precision. These are the practices and standards that structure our work.
Thai Bar Association Membership
All fee-earning lawyers at Phra Legal hold current admission to the Thai Bar Association and comply with its continuing education requirements.
Client Confidentiality
All client information is held under strict professional confidentiality. Files are stored securely and access is limited to the relevant matter team.
Document Accuracy Protocol
Every document prepared by the firm undergoes a two-stage review before submission to courts or third parties, reducing the risk of procedural delays.
Clear Communication Standard
Clients receive written summaries after consultations and regular status updates during administration. We do not assume silence indicates satisfaction.
Ethical Practice
We advise on the steps that are needed and appropriate to the situation — not on maximising the scope of our engagement. Fees are transparent and agreed in advance.
Continued Legal Education
The team reviews changes to Thai inheritance law, court practice, and revenue department procedures regularly to ensure advice remains current and accurate.
Expertise & Values
Inheritance law in Thailand — and what it asks of those involved
Thai inheritance law is governed primarily by Book VI of the Civil and Commercial Code (Sections 1599–1755), which sets out the rights of statutory heirs, the requirements for valid wills, and the procedures for estate administration. For most families, this framework is unfamiliar — encountered only at a time of loss or personal transition.
Phra Legal was established to provide inheritance law services that acknowledge this context. Our approach is built around the recognition that the people who come to us are not conducting routine transactions; they are managing the legal dimension of something that carries personal and family significance.
Our core values — clarity, patience, and proportionality — shape how we conduct every matter. Clarity means we explain what the law requires in terms that a non-lawyer can follow. Patience means we take the time questions deserve. Proportionality means the work we undertake is scaled to what the situation actually requires.
We work with Thai nationals and foreign nationals, with residents of Bangkok and those managing Thai estates from abroad. Whether the matter is a straightforward estate consultation or a contested inheritance involving multiple claimants and asset types, we approach it with the same level of care.
The Pathum Wan district, where our office sits, is central to Bangkok's professional and legal quarter — close to the Civil Court, the Land Department, and the offices of financial institutions that frequently hold estate assets. This location is practical as well as deliberate.
